Buan-gun, Jeonbuk Province announced on the 30th that the special exhibition "Insects of Buan Saemangeum" will be held from July 1 to August 31 at the Buan Nue Town Insect Exploration Science Museum to promote and commemorate the venue of the 25th World Scout Jamboree.

The World Scout Jamboree event will take place from August 1 to 12. Scouts from over 170 member countries, numbering in the tens of thousands, will share cultural exchanges and friendship. It is an international event that contributes to the growth of Scout youth as healthy global citizens.

Also, the Saemangeum Seawall, the venue, holds a Guinness World Record with a length of 33.9 km. Construction began in November 1991, creating new land spanning Buan-gun, Gimje-si, and Gunsan-si. This spirit of pioneering and service aligns closely with the ideals of Scout members.

Dr. Son Min-woo of Buan Nue Town explored the insect conditions in the Saemangeum area in cooperation with the Saemangeum Environmental Ecology Complex after the hosting was confirmed in August 2017. Based on this, he held the "Insects of Saemangeum Ariul" exhibition in 2021.

Building on this, Dr. Son renewed the exhibition into the 2023 special exhibition "Insects of Buan Saemangeum," presenting insects inhabiting Saemangeum within Buan to youth worldwide. All preparations over five years to commemorate Korea and ensure the successful hosting and promotion of the Jamboree have been completed.

This special exhibition showcases Buan’s insects to Scout members, led by the rhinoceros beetle symbolizing strength. The rhinoceros beetle’s main habitat is the Byeonsan Peninsula, and thanks to many efforts, it has recovered from being an endangered species and now thrives nationwide.

In particular, the exhibition features Buan’s insects to Scout members, led by the rhinoceros beetle symbolizing strength.

Kwon Ik-hyun, the governor of Buan-gun, said, "We wish for the success of the 2023 World Scout Jamboree," and added, "The 19th special exhibition 'Insects of Buan Saemangeum,' reflecting the insect content of the Byeonsan Peninsula, which has global biodiversity, is expected to be a major attraction for youth and tourists visiting Buan."
