Seongnam City Signs Business Agreement with Seongnam Sujeong Police Station and Illegal Camera Detection App Developer
Seongnam City signed a business agreement with Seongnam Sujeong Police Station and Espresso Co., Ltd. to prevent illegal filming in restrooms.
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has partnered with the police station and an illegal camera detection app developer to eliminate citizens' concerns about hidden cameras installed in public restrooms.
On the 29th, Seongnam City announced on the 30th that it signed a "Safe Restroom Creation Agreement for the Prevention of Illegal Filming Crimes" with the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station and Espresto Co., Ltd. at the situation room on the 4th floor of City Hall.
According to the agreement, Espresto Co., Ltd. will provide the AI-based illegal camera detection app "Lily's Map" licenses to Seongnam City and the Seongnam Sujeong Police Station. They will also support user training for the app.
Seongnam City and the Sujeong Police Station will distribute the app free of charge to managers of 611 public restrooms, subway restroom managers, and four universities in the region, allowing them to install it on their smartphones. They will conduct a six-month pilot project for illegal camera detection and inspection.
The app has the function to detect illegal cameras that are difficult to see with the naked eye.
When the app's camera is pointed at a suspicious area, if an illegal camera is present, a warning message appears on the smartphone app screen, indicating the location of the installed camera.
The Seongnam Sujeong Police Station will track down the installers of the detected illegal cameras.
Lee Jin-chan, Vice Mayor of Seongnam City, said, "Seongnam City is leading the prevention of digital sex crimes and support for victims, including being the first local government nationwide to open an Integrated Support Center for Digital Sex Crime Victims." He added, "We expect that this agreement will create a safe public restroom environment free from worries about illegal cameras."
