The World of Fitting...③ Ping Golf 'G430 Driver'

Body Measurement and Fitting Direction Interview 'First'
Head Type and Optimal Trajectory Setting After Ball Flight Analysis
Driver Length, Shaft, Grip Recommendation Order

Fitting is not an option but a necessity. When purchasing expensive golf clubs, you need to find the optimal combination that suits you. Golf equipment companies prepare the best fitters and fitting equipment to welcome customers. They captivate amateur golfers with differentiated fitting know-how. This is the world of fitting that each equipment company boasts. The third is the Ping Golf G430 driver fitting method.

Ping Golf is a brand that first introduced the Ping Color Code Chart in 1972, creating custom golf clubs tailored to golfers' body types and swings. It was the first in the industry to adopt casting production for golf clubs. In 1976, Ping developed the Pingman robot for precise fitting and club manufacturing. It especially excels in driver production. The G series from Ping Golf, known as the "national driver," is a representative example.

The World of Fitting...③ Ping Golf 'G430 Driver' Pingolf recommends the best driver tailored to the golfer's body type and physical abilities.

Ping Golf’s fitting capability is outstanding. It customizes clubs by understanding the individual characteristics of everyone from professionals to amateur golfers. Ping Golf fitting centers are located at the headquarters in Gyedong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, and at the second practice range of Namseoul CC. There is a left-handed tee box, so left-handed golfers can also receive fitting. The Namseoul fitting center is a private space directly connected to the driving range, allowing golfers to check ball flight and distance firsthand. To ensure data consistency, fittings are done using premium new balls.

If you want to fit a driver, make an online reservation. Upon arrival at the fitting center, the golfer’s body measurements such as height, arm length, and hand size are taken first. After discussing the golfer’s desired fitting direction, the driver test begins. First is ball flight analysis. Ping Golf drivers offer three head types: MAX, SFT, and LST. Based on the golfer’s ball flight, the appropriate head type is recommended. MAX induces a high-launch straight ball flight and is the most commonly used by amateur golfers. SFT is for golfers with severe slices, and LST is for advanced players seeking a low-spin fade ball flight.

Once the head type is decided, the appropriate launch angle for the golfer is determined. The optimal trajectory is set to achieve the longest distance. MAX (9, 10.5, 12 degrees), SFT (10.5 degrees), and LST (9, 10.5 degrees) have preset basic lofts. Using a separately sold wrench, self-adjustment by 1 to 1.5 degrees is possible. MAX adjusts draw, fade, and straight ball flights by setting weights.

The shaft type and flex are selected. Using the TrackMan 4 launch monitor, precise spin rate and ball speed are checked to find the best match. Over 300 shafts, including about 150 of the latest aftermarket shafts, are available.

The driver length is recommended according to the swing and body type. Grip size is also finely adjusted to better suit the golfer’s hands and ball flight. There are six grip sizes. Grip thickness is further finely tuned depending on the grip taping method. Grip thickness is set according to ball flight.
