Dobong-gu, Survey on Single-Person Households

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced that it has launched a research project to survey the conditions of single-person households and develop related policies, holding a kick-off meeting at Dobong-gu Office on the 20th.

At the meeting, department heads and experts from the research firm attended to discuss the direction of the research project and detailed implementation plans.

This research project was initiated to diagnose the changing lifestyles and current status due to the continuous increase of single-person households, analyze diverse characteristics by age, gender, and region, and establish policies that can effectively respond to the welfare needs of single-person households.

Earlier, on April 13, the district enacted the 'Seoul Special City Dobong-gu Single-Person Household Support Ordinance' to provide a legal basis for the single-person household survey.

The main tasks include ▲analysis of the current status and characteristics of Dobong-gu single-person households (population composition, housing, economy, etc.) ▲analysis of lifestyle attitudes and needs survey of Dobong-gu single-person households ▲presentation of policies and directions for Dobong-gu single-person households, all to be conducted by a professional research agency over four months.

To ensure the validity and reliability of the research and maximize the welfare impact, interviews with individuals by age group and group discussions composed of experts and practitioners in policy areas such as housing, safety, and health will be held to capture the needs and voices from the field.

Additionally, as the first autonomous district, a social isolation and withdrawal scale survey targeting young single-person households will be conducted simultaneously to prepare phased support measures such as identification, diagnosis, and reintegration for isolated and withdrawn youth.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok of Dobong-gu said, “Through this research project, we will accurately diagnose the conditions of single-person households in Dobong-gu and create proactive and sustainable customized welfare policies that reflect the unique characteristics of Dobong-gu single-person households.”
