On-site Inspection and Guidance Conducted for Businesses Subject to Single-Use Product Usage Regulations
Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, is conducting guidance and inspections of businesses subject to single-use product regulations to ensure the stable implementation of the revised system, which includes the expansion of restrictions on single-use products and strengthened compliance requirements by industry.
The county has organized its own inspection team and is conducting monthly inspections targeting businesses subject to single-use product regulations, such as food service establishments, collective catering facilities, bathhouses, sports facilities, and retail businesses, and plans to continue these inspections throughout the second half of the year.
The main inspection items include ▲whether single-use cups, plates, spoons, and vinyl tablecloths are used inside food service establishments such as restaurants and cafes ▲whether bathhouses provide free single-use razors, toothbrushes, shampoo, and conditioner ▲whether sports facilities provide free single-use cheering items ▲whether retail businesses provide free single-use bags and shopping bags.
Additionally, since November 24, 2022, the ban on using single-use paper cups, plastic straws, and stirrers inside stores, as well as the prohibition of free provision of single-use bags and shopping bags, has been expanded and added. A one-year grace period is being provided for these additional items, and after the grace period, violations will be subject to fines of up to 3 million KRW under the Resource Recycling Act.
County Governor Yoon Kyung-hee said, “I hope residents will make it a habit to use reusable cups, shopping bags, and other reusable items. In particular, I ask for the active participation of businesses subject to single-use product regulations.”
