Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 27th that it will actively support the installation of flood barriers in apartment underground parking lots to protect residents from flood damage caused by heavy rain.

During the heavy rain in August last year, the Gangnam area of Seoul suffered flood damage, and with a large amount of rainfall expected during this year’s rainy season, Dongdaemun-gu plans to proactively allocate an additional 50 million KRW from its own budget to intensively promote the installation of flood barriers in underground parking lots.

The support target is “mandatory management complexes with 150 or more households that do not have flood barriers installed in underground parking lots,” and 50% of the total construction cost will be supported. The application period is from June 23 to July 3, and apartment complexes wishing to apply can contact the Housing Division of Dongdaemun-gu.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, said, “The most important thing is the safety of our residents,” and added, “We will actively implement various preventive measures, including the installation of flood barriers, to ensure a summer free from flood damage.”
