Sahmyook University announced on the 27th that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for industry-academic cooperation with 71 daycare centers and social welfare organizations.
This agreement was made with the goal of training employees of the entrusted organizations (industries) as practical professionals in the field of social welfare through the graduate program in Educational Counseling and Welfare, which is a re-education type contract department.
Sahmyook University has established and operates master's and doctoral programs in the Educational Counseling and Welfare department, a re-education type contract department, at its graduate school.
The contract department system is a customized vocational education system (Work to school) operated by universities according to industry demands. It is divided into 'employment-conditioned' programs that lead to hiring after course completion and 're-education' programs aimed at re-educating industry employees and improving their job skills.
The Educational Counseling and Welfare department at Sahmyook University is a re-education type, newly established based on the existing Social Welfare department. In the face of the national crisis of low birth rates and aging population and ahead of the 2025 integration of childcare and early childhood education management systems, it aims to fundamentally transform care by strengthening the capabilities of daycare staff and social welfare practitioners to cultivate experts in the welfare field.
Kim Hyun-hee, Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School, stated, "By developing and operating specialized education programs tailored to field demands, we will nurture the most essential experts in child care and social welfare fields in the era of low birth rates and aging population."
