Gwangju Nam-gu, Recruiting Participants for Obyeongtongchi Classroom Program

Nam-gu will operate the second half of the Obyeongtongchi Classroom program from October 10 to October 27 on the 5th floor health education room of Nam-gu Office.

This program is highly regarded among middle-aged and older adults as it is effective in improving symptoms of metabolic syndrome, which is the basis of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

In particular, through regular physical activity to maintain muscle strength and the formation of healthy lifestyle habits such as nutrition management, the program greatly helps participants prevent diseases and improve their quality of life.

The number of participants for the second half of the Obyeongtongchi Classroom is 40.

Eligibility for application is limited to residents who fall outside the normal range in three or more of the five test items: blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, waist circumference, triglycerides, etc. Those taking prescribed medications for hypertension, diabetes, or dyslipidemia must submit their prescriptions.

The application period is until the 30th, and residents wishing to participate can visit the exercise prescription room on the 5th floor of Nam-gu Office to submit their application forms.

An official from Nam-gu said, "The Obyeongtongchi Classroom is a program where you can take care of both health and happiness through exercise," adding, "To ensure fairness in participation opportunities, participants will be selected by lottery on the 7th of next month."
