Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry Delivers Donation Funds for 'Donation Relay Campaign' The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam held a donation ceremony for the '2023 Donation Relay Campaign' and delivered 122.5 million won in donations to the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office.

This campaign was the first project of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Social Contribution Council, launched in April, and was promoted to support veterans and their families who devoted themselves to the country in honor of the Month of Patriots and Veterans in June.

The campaign, conducted by the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Gyeongnam Community Chest of Korea, began with a business agreement on May 2 to support veterans’ families and carried out fundraising for about a month. Forty-five companies and organizations participated in this happy journey with veterans’ families, raising 122.5 million KRW. This exceeded the initial goal of 100 million KRW, and the entire amount raised will be used through the Gyeongnam Eastern Veterans Affairs Office to support low-income veterans’ families.

Chairman Gu said, “Despite the difficult economic situation, I am grateful that many companies participated in the relay campaign. I consider it meaningful to offer some comfort to veterans and their families who devoted themselves to the country, and I hope this campaign will further spread the culture of sharing among companies.”

Yoon Jeong-oh, Chairman of the Veterans Organizations Council, said, “We appreciate the participation of local companies and organizations despite the challenging environment. Our veterans organizations will also strive to contribute to the local community.”

Notably, this campaign attracted attention with the appearance of brother donors. Kim Seong-eun, Chairman of Deokjin General Construction, and Kim Seong-il, CEO of B.O.M Construction, are brothers whose father was a disabled veteran who fought in the Korean War. The two brothers have consistently engaged in social contribution activities, such as supporting the renovation of old houses for national merit recipients and veterans’ families. Additionally, CEO Lim Young-gap participated in the donation through two companies, Unistar and Korea Tsubakimoto Automotive.
