Gangnam-gu Mayor Jo Seong-myeong and Officials Participate in 'Integrity Broadcast Challenge' Recording of Gangnam District Mayor Jo Sung-myung's Integrity Broadcast

Gangnam-gu (Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is promoting the ‘Integrity Broadcasting Challenge’ from March to November, involving the mayor and senior officials.

The Integrity Broadcasting Challenge was established to naturally encourage employees to embrace a culture of integrity and enhance their commitment by having senior officials share their honest thoughts and determination regarding integrity through internal broadcasts.

On the first Wednesday of every month at 9 a.m., senior officials of the district serve as daily broadcasters to deliver integrity messages directly. Starting with the first broadcast by Mayor Jo Seong-myeong of Gangnam-gu in March, nine participants including Deputy Mayor Jeong Heon-jae and level 4 directors take part.

The officials share not only relevant laws such as the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act and the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act but also their experiences in public service and know-how on integrity.

At the end of the broadcast, the next presenter is introduced, and a quiz related to the integrity topic covered in the broadcast is presented. On average, about 1,000 employees participate in the integrity quiz through the internal bulletin board each month. Based on quiz participation and other factors, the district selects and encourages outstanding departments.

In addition, the district is implementing various integrity policies to foster an honest public service culture, including ▲ operating an Integrity Promotion Planning Group ▲ self-assessment of integrity levels and corruption-prone areas ▲ customized integrity education for all employees ▲ and self-inspection of fraudulent claims in public finances.

Mayor Jo Seong-myeong of Gangnam-gu urged employees in the broadcast, “While developing work skills is important, possessing the virtue of integrity is what makes a true public official,” and added, “Let us strive to establish a culture of integrity in the public sector through change and effort.”
