Over 30 Police Officers Deployed... "Ended Without Incident"
The wedding of the boss of Busan's largest violent organization, well known from the movie ‘Friend’, was held. The ceremony, conducted under strict police surveillance, reportedly concluded without major issues.
According to the Busan Jungbu Police Station, at 5 p.m. on the 25th, the wedding of Mr. A, the boss of the violent organization ‘Sin 20segi-pa’, took place at a hotel in Jung-gu, Busan.
It is reported that gang members and celebrities from all over the country attended the wedding as guests. They were seen bowing at a 90-degree angle to greet others inside the venue.
Starting two hours before the wedding, men presumed to be gang members guarded the hotel entrance. Additionally, several well-built men in suits were waiting with their hands clasped in front of the wedding hall. Approximately 200 people attended the ceremony.
As it was anticipated that major gangsters from across the nation would gather, the police deployed about 30 plainclothes officers and violent crime detectives around the hotel and wedding venue to prepare for any emergencies.

However, the unfortunate incidents the police feared did not occur. There were no signs or notices at the venue hinting that the wedding’s main figure was a gangster, and no conflicts arose between hotel guests and gang members.
A hotel official stated, “Although there seemed to be more guests than usual, no particular incidents occurred, and there were no complaints from the hotel guests.”
A police official explained, “While monitoring the movements of Sin 20segi-pa, we learned about the wedding. We made efforts to ensure that the paths of the wedding guests and hotel guests did not overlap, and we informed the wedding organizers to proceed without any problems.”
Sin 20segi-pa is a deeply rooted violent organization in Busan, alongside Chilseong-pa. It is known to have been organized in the 1980s based around the entertainment districts of Nampo-dong and Jungang-dong in Jung-gu, Busan.
Chilseong-pa established itself in Busan earlier. Starting to expand its influence in the 1970s, Chilseong-pa strengthened its power by forming sworn brotherhood ties with the bosses of Japanese Yakuza organizations.
Later, Sin 20segi-pa emerged as a rival, and the two organizations maintained a tense relationship for about 30 years, engaging in various clashes. The most significant incident was in July 1993, when a Chilseong-pa member fatally stabbed Sin 20segi-pa executive Mr. Jeong on a street in Jung-gu, Busan. This incident became the basis for the movie ‘Friend’, gaining further notoriety.
In January 2006, Sin 20segi-pa stormed the Yeongnak Park funeral hall in Busan armed with weapons, engaging in a brawl with Chilseong-pa members. Additionally, in 2021, the two groups fought at a funeral hall in Seomyeon, Busan. The street brawl in the city center led to the mass arrest of over 70 people at that time.
