Emergency Situation Worker Assembly and Reception Desk Expanded by Up to 50 Units
Jeonnam Fire Headquarters (Chief Hong Young-geun) is strengthening situation management to prepare for a surge in 119 emergency calls due to heavy rain this summer.
Jeonnam Fire announced on the 25th that it will operate an emergency reception system and, if a surge in calls is expected due to natural disasters in the summer, it will immediately summon additional staff on duty and expand the number of reception desks handling calls from 15 to up to 50.
Through pre-inspection of the 119 call reception system and emergency response drills for 119 call reception, they are thoroughly preparing for disaster situation management, and in case of a system failure in the comprehensive situation room’s reception system, call reception will be switched to fire stations.
Also, when a concentration of calls is expected, a text message advising restraint on non-emergency calls will be sent, and an automatic announcement system to prevent duplicate calls will be activated.
Choi Dong-su, head of the 119 comprehensive situation room, said, “During typhoons and heavy rain, please refrain from simple civil complaint calls so that emergency rescue call reception is not delayed.”
