Ahn Hyeong-ju, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, pointed out comprehensive problems related to the management of the Seo-gu Facilities Management Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the Corporation), including poor operation and lack of communication, and demanded improvements during the third plenary session of the 3rd meeting of the 1st regular session of the 312th council, announced on the 25th.
Through his questions on district administration, Councilor Ahn mentioned ▲inappropriate budget formulation procedures and budget management ▲operation methods lacking communication with the field, such as labor union conflicts ▲insufficient post-management system after internal detection ▲principle-less corporation operation, including delayed responses to large-scale civil complaints.
Regarding the mixed processing of PET bottles, which was covered by the media, he stated that it directly contradicts Mayor Kim Yi-gang’s pledge for a ‘Carbon Neutral Seo-gu’ and criticized the lukewarm follow-up measures that only involved ‘warnings and guidance.’
He continued, “The large waste disposal project, which is directly related to the safety and health of the residents, used to have a civil complaint processing period of 2 to 3 days, but since May, it has been delayed for nearly a month, causing an outpouring of complaints from residents,” and demanded improvements to the collection policy system.
Councilor Ahn said, “The purpose of establishing the Corporation is to efficiently and professionally manage public facilities so that residents can benefit in various fields. However, the Corporation’s actions are difficult to see as aligned with that purpose. The problems repeatedly raised at every session have only received formal responses promising improvement, but no changes have occurred.”
In his closing remarks, Councilor Ahn emphasized, “I hope the Facilities Management Corporation becomes an advanced company leading the improvement of living conditions for residents. I hope the Corporation strives to be reborn as a company represented by environmental protection, social contribution, and ethical management, earning the trust of 290,000 Seo-gu residents.”
