DPK: "Democrats Must Apologize to the People for 'THAAD False Propaganda'"

"The Power of Fake News and Rumors Has Worn Off"

The People Power Party fiercely attacked the Democratic Party of Korea, citing the environmental impact assessment results of the THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) base in Seongju, Gyeongbuk, which showed that electromagnetic waves are at a level harmless to the human body, and demanded an apology for "spreading fearmongering."

Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party, said at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the morning of the 22nd, "The environmental impact assessment, which was deceivingly conducted as if it were being done while actually not doing so throughout the Moon Jae-in administration, out of consideration for China, was completed within one year of the Yoon Seok-yeol government."

Kim said, "The confirmed electromagnetic waves at the THAAD base showed a maximum measured value of 0.19% of the human protection standard, indicating an extremely negligible effect," and criticized, "There are still people in the Democratic Party who have repeatedly advanced their careers by spreading absurd and malicious rumors, such as melons withering due to electromagnetic waves, feeling like their bodies are being torn apart, or being fried by electromagnetic waves, even composing songs about these rumors."

He continued, "The Democratic Party should confess their sin of falsely inciting the public with these rumors and properly ask for forgiveness before the people."

Kim also added that the Democratic Party is spreading rumors about the discharge of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant. He said, "Even though it has been proven that the rumors spread by the Democratic Party are completely baseless, they remain addicted to these rumors like a drug and are sinking deeper into it," adding, "They are seriously threatening the livelihoods of those in the fisheries and tourism industries by exacerbating public anxiety with scientifically unfounded radiation rumors."

Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader of the People Power Party, also criticized at the meeting that day, "The maximum measured value of THAAD electromagnetic waves is only 1/530 of the human protection standard, which is even less than that of a mobile phone base station," and said, "The Democratic Party, which has tried to drive a wedge in the Korea-US alliance, driven a nail into the hearts of farmers, and tarnished the name of the beautiful region of Seongju, should offer a sincere apology before the people and the residents of Seongju."

Furthermore, regarding the Fukushima nuclear contaminated water, Yoon said, "The Democratic Party has even started targeting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), an international organization. It is clear that they intend to undermine its credibility ahead of the IAEA's final report," and rebutted, "If they cannot trust the analysis of scientific experts or the investigations of accredited international organizations, then what truth can they believe in?"

Yoon emphasized, "The people vividly remember the mad cow disease and THAAD fearmongering. They also clearly remember that the Democratic Party has never apologized for their mistakes," and stressed, "Now, the power of fake news and rumors has run out."
