Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, stated on the 22nd that "it is important for regional banks and local self-employed businesses to cooperate as partners and coexist harmoniously."
Governor Lee made these remarks while attending the opening ceremony of BNK Gyeongnam Bank's Ulsan 'Small Business Hope Dream Center.' The ceremony was also attended by Kim Doo-gyeom, Mayor of Ulsan Metropolitan City, Bin Dae-in, Chairman of BNK Financial Group, and Ye Kyung-tak, President of Gyeongnam Bank.
Governor Lee emphasized, "The self-employed are the foundation of the grassroots economy and the backbone of the economy. Although more than half of all self-employed businesses operate outside the metropolitan area, support infrastructure for the self-employed has been concentrated in the metropolitan area, which is somewhat regrettable. It is very meaningful that Gyeongnam Bank, as the first regional bank, has prepared a structured four-week education program."
He added, "The Financial Supervisory Service will also continue to consider ways to revitalize regional finance and support the self-employed, and will do its best efforts."
