'100 Million Investment' HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Supports Partner Companies' ESG with the Shared Growth Committee

Issuance of 'ESG Excellent SME Certificate'
Preferential Interest Rates and Export·Technology Support Benefits

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is joining forces with the Korea Commission for Corporate Partnership to promote ESG management among partner small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On the 21st, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and the Commission signed the '2023 Partner Company ESG Support Project Agreement.' This is the second year the support project is being implemented following last year.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is contributing 100 million KRW to the Win-Win Cooperation Fund and, in accordance with the Commission's ESG standard guidelines for SMEs, selects ESG indicators for partner companies. It then provides comprehensive support including ESG education, diagnosis, on-site inspection (consulting), and publication of sustainability management reports.

Partner companies with excellent compliance rates for ESG indicators after consulting will be issued a 'Certificate of ESG Excellence for SMEs' under the Commission's name. Companies holding this certificate receive incentives such as ▲ preferential interest rates (Shinhan Bank, IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, Gyeongnam Bank, KB Kookmin Bank) ▲ export support services (KOTRA) ▲ environmental and energy technology support (Korea Institute of Energy Research).

Last year, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries became the first in the shipbuilding industry to participate in the Commission's partner company ESG support project. In April this year, it selected 30 ESG-excellent partner companies together with the Commission. Last month, it signed a 'Partner Company ESG Consulting Business Agreement' with IBK Industrial Bank of Korea, continuously striving to expand ESG management throughout the industry.

An HD Hyundai Heavy Industries official stated, "Through last year's project, many small and medium-sized shipbuilding companies were able to establish a foundation for ESG management," adding, "We will continue to work with the Commission to ensure that the ESG management ethos takes root across the entire shipbuilding industry."
