In his opening remarks, President Biden said, "We will witness more technological changes in the next 10 years than in the past 50 years, or perhaps even longer," adding, "AI is already driving such changes in every aspect of American life in ways we often do not recognize."

He continued by saying that AI will help make internet searches and driving easier and assist in addressing diseases and climate change, but emphasized, "We need to manage the risks to society, the economy, and national security."

President Biden also stated, "The administration is committed to protecting Americans' rights and safety, from privacy protection to addressing AI bias and fake news, and ensuring AI systems are safe before they are released."

Furthermore, he said, "Social media has already shown the harm that powerful technology without proper safeguards can cause," urging Congress to pass legislation that limits tech companies' data collection and bans advertising targeting children.
