"Come Fish in Ulleungdo!" ... Ulleung-gun Successfully Hosts Nationwide Bengeodum Fishing Competition

Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, hosted the nationwide Bengeodam Tournament fishing competition for three days starting from the 16th, organized by the Ulleung-gun Sports Council.

A total of 128 players from across the country participated, forming teams of two and competing in a one-on-one tournament format. The competition was decided by measuring the total weight of Bengeodam fish caught that were 25 cm or longer during each round.

The nationwide Bengeodum fishing competition was held on Ulleungdo, organized by the Ulleung-gun Sports Council.

As a result of the competition, player Won Seong-jo from Jeju Island won first place with a 590g Bengeodam. The runner-up was player Im Ji-hoo from Busan, who recorded 585g. The small difference in individual player records added excitement to the competition.

At the opening ceremony, Nam Han-gwon, the county governor, said, “Through this nationwide fishing competition, we hope to promote Ulleung as a marine leisure tourist destination nationwide and expect to revitalize the local economy by increasing tourism.”
