Gwangjin-gu, Now Enjoy Pilates at Gwangjin Square
Seoul's First, Eight Types of Pilates Equipment Installed at Gwangjin Square with High Foot Traffic for Full-Body Relaxation and Upper Body Balance Exercises
Exercise Method Videos Accessible via QR Codes Allow Easy Learning Without Instructor Assistance
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has created an 'Outdoor Pilates Exercise Space' at Gwangjin Square (389 Gwangnaru-ro).
Pilates is a slow and gentle exercise that seeks body balance, effective for strengthening core muscles and flexibility, stabilizing the spine and joints, correcting posture, managing weight, and calming the mind and body.
Recently, the preference for Pilates has increased from younger generations to middle-aged groups, but the cost of classes makes it difficult to use professional academies.
Accordingly, the district installed a total of eight types of Pilates equipment at Gwangjin Square, which has a large floating population, for full-body relaxation exercises and upper body balance training?the first such installation in Seoul.
Additionally, detailed instruction boards explaining exercises for each equipment were produced, and QR codes were attached to each piece so that exercise method videos can be viewed.
It is expected that even residents new to Pilates will be able to easily learn the exercises without the help of an instructor.
District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We have prepared a space where many people can enjoy Pilates, a popular exercise, outdoors. We will continue to strive to provide various exercise facilities to promote the health of our residents.”
