Choi Jung-woo, Chairman of POSCO Group, is set to meet Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, again after eight months.
Chairman Choi is reportedly scheduled to have a private meeting with CEO Farley this week at Ford's headquarters in Michigan, USA. Previously, Chairman Choi had an unofficial meeting with CEO Farley at the POSCO Center in Seoul when Farley visited Korea in September last year.
Industry insiders expect that Chairman Choi and CEO Farley are likely to discuss cooperation on secondary battery materials, such as cathode materials.
Kim Jun-hyung, President of POSCO Future M, which is in charge of the secondary battery materials business, is also known to have departed for North America, lending weight to these expectations. Through POSCO Future M, a battery materials affiliate of POSCO Group DMS, POSCO has formed a 'battery alliance' with General Motors (GM).
