Hwasun-gun 'Youth and Newlywed Full Rent Housing' Move-in Starts in July

On the morning of the 18th, Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do, announced on the 20th that it held a lottery drawing for tenants of the 'Ten Thousand Won Rental Housing' for young people and newlyweds at the Hwasun Hanium Culture and Sports Center Jeokbyeok Room.

The Ten Thousand Won Rental Housing project is a system in which Hwasun-gun supports the rental deposit for young adults taking their first steps into society.

This housing pledge for youth, strongly driven by County Governor Gubokgyu's determination, is expected to have a dual effect by addressing vacancies in private rental apartments, which are numerous, and supporting youth housing.

The county began preparations in July last year, signed a memorandum of understanding with Booyoung Housing Co., Ltd. in December, and completed the enactment of related ordinances along with consultations on the establishment of social security systems with the Ministry of Health and Welfare in April this year.

After announcing the tenant recruitment at the end of April, applications were accepted in early May, and tenant selection was decided by lottery through the Tenant Selection Committee’s review, with the lottery drawing completed on the morning of June 18.

The lottery event provided drawing opportunities only to 442 applicants who passed document screening out of 506 who submitted applications, with 409 attending on-site, resulting in a competition rate exceeding 8 to 1.

The lottery event began admitting participants from 8:30 a.m., and by around noon, 50 tenants for the first phase were confirmed amid mixed emotions of winners and non-winners.

Governor Gubokgyu stated, “We plan to supply an additional 50 units of the second phase of Ten Thousand Won Rental Housing as scheduled,” and urged attendees, “Even if you were not selected today, please do not lose hope and participate again in the August recruitment.”

Attendees who were not selected left with regrets but hopeful for the second phase supply and next year’s supply.

A county official stated, “We plan to complete lease and sublease contracts with the selected tenants by the end of June, and move-in for the Ten Thousand Won Rental Housing will be possible from July 3.”

Additionally, Booyoung Housing Co., Ltd. plans to complete the ongoing remodeling by the end of June and finish all preparations for July move-in.
