Jeju Coast Guard Office Conducts Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention Training for Senior Police Officers

The Jeju Regional Coast Guard Headquarters (Chief Han Sang-chul) announced on the 20th that it conducted a "Special Face-to-Face Prevention Education on Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence" for officers at the rank of lieutenant commander and above in the large conference room on the first floor of the Jeju Coast Guard Headquarters.

This training was held with the attendance of 12 people including Han Sang-chul, Chief of Jeju Coast Guard Headquarters, various department heads, and section chiefs (lieutenant commander rank), as well as 27 senior officers from Jeju Coast Guard Station and 15 from Seogwipo Coast Guard Station, featuring a lecture by Yoo Jeong-heun, director of the Gender Leadership Improvement Institute.

The education was promoted not as a traditional lecture-style training with invited professional instructors, but as a collaborative effort involving all maritime police officers to foster an organizational culture where all genders are equal.

The lecture focused on role-playing exercises related to incident parties and enhancing response capabilities for reporting and handling cases, strengthening gender awareness through understanding sexual harassment issues in the public sector, sharing new understandings of sexual harassment and sexual violence, key results from gender equality organizational diagnosis, types of sexual harassment incidents and punishments within the institution, incident handling procedures, and listening to difficulties encountered.

Han Sang-chul, Chief of Jeju Coast Guard Headquarters, stated, "Through this training, I hope it becomes a communication platform where managers can relieve the burden of handling cases and preventing secondary damage when incidents such as sexual harassment occur, and where the obsession with gender equality is set aside to mutually share and cultivate gender awareness."
