Busan Port Authority (BPA) held the awards ceremony for the ‘2023 Love the Sea Children's Writing and Drawing Contest’ at 3 p.m. on the 19th in the main auditorium of its headquarters.
This contest was held to commemorate the 16th Busan Port Festival on May 27 and 28 at the lawn of the National Maritime Museum in Yeongdo-gu, Busan, with a total of 1,763 participants.
Now in its 15th year, the ‘Love the Sea Children's Writing and Drawing Contest’ has seen about 2,000 children compete annually to showcase their talents.
This year, to wish for the successful bid of the 2030 Busan World Expo, the theme ‘2030 Expo’ was newly added alongside the existing themes of Beautiful Busan Port, Love the Sea, and Marine Environment.
Participants of the '2023 Sea Love Children's Writing and Drawing Contest' award ceremony are taking a group commemorative photo.
BPA selected a total of 253 award-winning works through objective and fair judging by six education experts: 6 Gold Prize winners, 10 Silver Prize winners, 177 Bronze Prize winners, and 60 Special Prize winners. Sixty people, including Gold and Silver Prize winners and their families, attended the awards ceremony.
BPA President Kang Jun-seok personally presented certificates to the winners, and the winners and their families took a tour around Busan Port aboard the port guide ship Saenuri-ho.
President Kang Jun-seok said, “I hope the children who participated in this contest will spread their dreams and hopes through the sea,” and added, “We will continue to make various efforts for children and do our best to support Busan’s bid for the 2030 Expo, reflecting the wishes of the children.”
