Gwangju Buk-gu Council Member: "Construction Must Be Fully Reconsidered to Ensure Street Tree Growth"

According to Gwangju Buk-gu Council on the 19th, Councilor Choi Mu-song urged on the 16th during the Buk-gu Council Safety and Urban Committee administrative audit that "the growth environment in the Buk-gu area must be guaranteed."

On that day, Councilor Choi presented photos taken directly at the site as evidence, stating, "Although permeable concrete construction visually guarantees pedestrian rights and looks neat, when foreign substances and dust accumulate, water permeability becomes difficult, and compaction damage occurs, which is fatal to the growth of street trees." He added, "In Jung-gu, Daegu, the same method was applied, but due to various problems, the permeable concrete is being removed."

He continued, "A full review of porous concrete construction with continuous pores that allow water to pass through the street trees is necessary," and urged, "Since there are considerable complaints from nearby residents, the expansion of this construction method should seek environmentally friendly alternatives."
