The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced that from the 19th to the 23rd, it will conduct sector-specific joint inspections with local governments to strengthen the safety management of medical products.
For pharmaceuticals, they will check whether local anesthetics reported by wholesalers as for export are being supplied domestically. This is based on information that local anesthetics are being illegally distributed to domestic tattoo studios.
According to the inspection results, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated that pharmaceutical wholesalers who falsely reported the supply details of local anesthetics will face administrative sanctions, and if local anesthetics reported for export are supplied domestically to those not authorized to sell pharmaceuticals, they will be subject to administrative sanctions and criminal charges.
For cosmetics, inspections will target the top companies in production and import performance last year for cosmetics used by infants and children. Given the growing consumer interest in the safety of cosmetics for infants and children, they plan to review whether there are materials that demonstrate product safety and manufacturing methods.
In the case of medical devices, inspections will focus on manufacturers and importers regarding change approvals and violations of false or exaggerated advertising.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to continue conducting ongoing inspections of fraudulent and substandard medical products to minimize harm to the public and create a safe and effective environment for the use of medical products.
