KT M mobile announced on the 19th that it has launched a ‘Self-Purchased Device Compensation Service’ that compensates up to 50% of the purchase price in cash, in line with the increasing trend of customers using self-purchased devices.
Considering the repurchase patterns of customers who purchase self-purchased devices, this additional service pays up to 50% of the purchase price in cash when customers apply for compensation and return the device after using the service for 18 months. The newly launched service offers three types: ▲ iPhone type (6,600 KRW) ▲ Android type (8,800 KRW) ▲ Foldable type (12,650 KRW). New KT M mobile subscribers and existing customers can join within 90 days after purchasing a new self-purchased device.
Applications can be made within 3 months after the 18-month service subscription period ends (between 19 and 21 months). Customers can apply by visiting any nationwide Winia Aid Center or Winia Dimchae Stay directly operated store. Compensation is paid in cash after the returned device undergoes a compensation inspection: ▲ up to 50% for iPhone type ▲ up to 45% for Android type ▲ up to 45% for Foldable type.
To alleviate customers’ concerns about personal information leakage, returned devices have their personal data securely deleted using a globally certified data deletion solution. The deletion solution includes processes such as random value overwriting, firmware deletion commands, and verification of successful data deletion. After the data deletion process is completed, it is possible to manage the history including issuing a deletion report containing deletion validity verification information.
To commemorate the launch of the service, KT M mobile is running a promotion until the 30th of this month, providing all customers who subscribe to the ‘Self-Purchased Device Compensation Service’ with 30,000 N Pay points.
Jeon Seung-bae, Head of Business Operations at KT M mobile, said, "We planned this self-purchased device cash compensation service to help reduce the financial burden of customers purchasing flagship smartphones." He added, "We will continue to strive to provide differentiated services and benefits in line with the trend of combining self-purchased devices and budget phones."
