On the 16th, Yoon Hee-geun, Commissioner of the National Police Agency, visited Dongdaemun Police Station and Jungnang Police Station in Seoul and promoted a total of two officers who contributed to the case arrests. Afterwards, he visited Gangnam Police Station in Seoul and promoted three investigators from the Excellent Economic Team.

Jung Gwang-rae, a detective of the Economic Team 3 at Dongdaemun Police Station in Seoul, was promoted to the rank of inspector. Inspector Jung arrested three advisory agents who defrauded 12.7 billion KRW in deposits from 125 people using a no-capital gap investment method and applied laws related to criminal organizations.

Park Ki-jun, a police officer of the Intelligence Team at Jungnang Police Station in Seoul, was promoted to detective. Detective Park arrested nine members of the jeonse loan fraud organization, detained six of them, and also applied criminal organization laws.

Inspector Jung said, "I did my best to alleviate the pain of the victims even a little," and added, "I am honored and grateful to receive the promotion award."

Commissioner Yoon selected Gangnam Police Station as the Excellent Investigation Team in the "2023 First Half Nationwide Police Station Economic Crime Investigation Activity Evaluation."

The Economic Crime Investigation Team is the closest investigative unit to the public handling complaints such as accusations and reports, playing a pivotal role in police investigations. Recently, the National Police Agency established a "team evaluation system" to enhance responsible investigations by economic teams, significantly strengthening evaluation criteria for swift and thorough case handling and preparing reward plans.

Gangnam Police Station in Seoul was evaluated as having a high degree of investigation completeness due to a large number of cases handled and few supplementary investigations. Detective Yoon Jong-hwan of Economic Team 10 was promoted to inspector, and Sergeant Jeon Su-yeon of Economic Team 4 was promoted to detective for thoroughly explaining and notifying complainants about the investigation process. Sergeant Han Si-hyun, who arrested a suspect involved in a fraudulent fundraising scheme that defrauded 55 people of 186.3 million KRW under the pretext of investing in a cosmetics business without financial authority approval, was also promoted to detective.

Commissioner Yoon said, "We have made efforts to improve investigative conditions, such as increasing 1,000 field investigators and expanding rewards," and added, "We will continue to strengthen investigative capabilities by promoting team-centered investigations and establishing specialized investigative systems centered on metropolitan and provincial police agencies."
