VoiceEye, a company possessing technology that converts text to speech, announced on the 15th that it will embark on developing an artificial intelligence (AI) solution technology that converts table formats into speech.
VoiceEye's text-to-speech technology has significantly improved information delivery rates for information-disadvantaged groups such as the visually impaired. However, table formats like meal plans or timetables have posed challenges for voice support. To overcome this, VoiceEye plans to collaborate with Unidocs, a company with AI technology.
VoiceEye and Unidocs have been selected for the AI Voucher Support Project hosted by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency and agreed to cooperate on this technology development until October.
The National IT Industry Promotion Agency's "AI Voucher Support Project" issues vouchers to demand companies that require AI solution application. These companies use the vouchers to utilize products from desired AI solution providers, promoting digital transformation.
VoiceEye and Unidocs aim to develop an "AI solution for generating text for voice conversion" that automatically creates voice-conversion text as recognized by the general public from merged or split rows and columns of various table formats using AI technology.
To this end, VoiceEye will provide its existing barcode products, VoiceEye Maker, and application software. VoiceEye already holds a 90% market share in the voice-conversion barcode market and is the only company registered with the Public Procurement Service, making market expansion to existing customers easier, according to analysis.
Additionally, since 2013, VoiceEye has secured various formats through delivery records to about 480 government and public institution sites, providing a demonstrable environment with actual image data usable for the AI solution.
Unidocs possesses artificial intelligence software technology and will perform AI solution customization, performance testing, and interface integration. Unidocs has developed the product "ezPDF Capture AI" and has participated in numerous AI-related projects such as the development of "Gyeongbuk World Cultural Heritage Seowon Metaverse Images and 3D Data" and the construction of "Large-scale Handwriting OCR Data." In particular, the ezPDF Capture AI product is continuously upgraded, making it applicable to the latest products and providing competitive technology leadership, according to analysis.
Jung Kwon-sung, CEO of VoiceEye, stated, "Through this project, we will improve AI model performance and provide voice-conversion text generation functions as plugins not only for Korean documents but also for MS Word and other editors. We will strive to pioneer not only the domestic market but also the U.S. and European markets, where social awareness of people with disabilities is high."
