Discovering Foods like Dwaejigukbap and Tonggaraetteokbokki for Social Contribution
Convenience stores will now offer representative dishes of Busan, such as pork soup and Tonggarae Tteokbokki.
GS Retail announced on the 15th that it will sign a business agreement with Busan City in the afternoon to "spread the brand value of the Busan region and jointly practice social contribution."
The business agreement ceremony will be held at the main building of Busan Metropolitan City Hall in Yeonje-gu, Busan. Key officials from both sides, including Oh Jin-seok, head of GS Retail Platform BU, and Ahn Byung-yoon, Deputy Mayor of Busan, are expected to attend.
Through this business agreement, both parties will establish a mutual cooperation relationship focusing on spreading the brand value of Busan, promoting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo, discovering representative food products of Busan to promote the "Gourmet City Busan," and revitalizing tourism.
GS Retail plans to contribute to promoting Busan City's brand value, which aims to leap to one of the world's top 10 international tourist cities by 2030, through the development of representative food products of Busan and support for tourism revitalization. It will also practice ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management as a social contribution activity for regional economic development.
At GS25, two types of refrigerated convenience foods, "Busan-style pork soup" and "Busan-style Tonggarae Tteokbokki," will be introduced. GS Retail expects that various products and services containing the taste of Busan will enhance the image of Busan, leading to a virtuous cycle of increased tourism demand and revitalization of the local economy. Plans also include supporting small business suppliers handling local specialties, securing sales channels, and jointly planning social contribution projects with Busan City.
Oh Jin-seok, Vice President and Head of GS Retail Platform BU, said, "We signed this business agreement with Busan City to contribute to the development of Busan's tourism industry and regional economic revitalization, and to offer customers more delicious products and excellent services. We will continue to strengthen cooperation with local governments and contribute to the growth and development of local communities through various support."
