Busan University of Foreign Studies Dance Team Wins Gold at World Citizen Festival Foreign Dance Competition

On May 20th, the dance team composed of international students from Busan University of Foreign Studies won the gold prize at the 18th Busan Global Citizen Festival held at Busan Cinema Center.

The 18th Busan Global Citizen Festival (Global Gathering 2023) is a global cultural event held to experience the cultures of various countries and to communicate, exchange, and harmonize with people from around the world.

The event was attended by 82 organizations from 32 countries, including foreign embassies in Korea, foreign communities in the Busan area, and related institutions, who communicated and harmonized with each other while introducing the cultures and performances of their respective countries.

The dance team of Busan University of Foreign Studies is taking a group photo to celebrate winning the gold prize.

The first part of the event began with the opening performance by the Busan City Dance Company, followed by a radio talk concert, special performances by overseas guests, and a raffle. The second part included the awarding of the Korea-China-Japan Children's Friendship Drawing Exhibition, a world costume contest, a foreigner dance competition, and another raffle.

The final performance of the 'All See Go! World Star-K in Busan' foreigner dance competition held in the second part featured 141 participants from 17 countries, with only 10 selected teams advancing to the finals. The dance team of international students from Busan University of Foreign Studies advanced to the finals and won the gold prize.

Yu Chen, director of the Multicultural Social Integration Center, said, "We are pleased that our university's international students could participate as representatives of the school in this meaningful global event," adding, "We will continue to actively participate in various programs of Busan City to practice partnership with Busan and embody the characteristics of a glocal university that breaks down domestic and international barriers."

International students at Busan University of Foreign Studies participate in various events and volunteer activities for Busan City and the local community, including the 2030 Busan World Expo bid support event, Busan tourism global supporters activities, kimchi sharing events, and translation volunteer work.
