Master Singer Bae Ildong and Accompanist Kim Dongwon Present a High-Class Pansori Performance
The Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo Organizing Committee (Chairman Nogwankyu, Mayor of Suncheon) announced that on the 17th at 7:30 PM, a ‘K-Classic’ performance by master singer Bae Ildong will be held at Ocheon Green Square.
On weekend evenings in June, various cultural and artistic performances will take place at Ocheon Green Square.
This performance will feature Professor Kim Dongwon (Wonkwang Digital University), a holder of the National Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 92 Taepyeongmu, as the drummer, presenting a perfect harmony with master singer Bae Ildong in a pansori performance.
Bae Ildong, a native of Suncheon, is a holder of Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 5 Pansori and is known for his loud and powerful voice, earning him the nickname ‘Waterfall Voice.’
As the promotional ambassador for the 2023 Suncheon Bay International Garden Expo, master Bae performed a crossover concert with the project group ‘Jiri (CHIRI)’ at Ocheon Green Square last May, stating, “Standing on the widely spread stage of Ocheon Green Square, I looked toward my hometown Suncheon and expressed my emotions through the sound melodies.”
The fusion music combining pansori and jazz received great acclaim from many spectators.
Visitors and citizens attending the Garden Expo are pleased to be able to enjoy various cultural performances held at Ocheon Green Square without any additional cost.
Meanwhile, on the 18th at 7:30 PM, at Ocheon Green Square, guitarist and singer-songwriter Jang Haeun Ensemble, who appeared on SBS’s Star King and JTBC’s Super Band 2, will perform under the theme ‘Romantic Hill,’ delivering romantic guitar melodies.
