President Yoon Suk-yeol said on the 13th, "Let us further strengthen strategic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in areas such as nuclear power, defense, and the defense industry."
On the same day, during a meeting with Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the Yongsan Presidential Office, President Yoon stated, "Economic relations between Korea and the UAE have recently become closer, and especially the UAE's $30 billion investment decision has become an opportunity to deepen economic cooperation between the two countries," according to Lee Do-woon, spokesperson for the Presidential Office.
President Yoon continued, "We must ensure that investments and cooperation that are mutually beneficial and economically effective take place," adding, "I would like to once again express my gratitude for the swift support provided in April that enabled our citizens to safely withdraw from Sudan. I cherish the warm hospitality from the UAE during my state visit last January as a fond memory."
Minister Abdullah responded, "Through President Yoon's state visit to the UAE last January, the first since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have developed into closer brotherly nations," and said, "Our bilateral relations have never been this close before."
He added, "Korea is an important strategic partner for the UAE. We are steadily working on fulfilling the promised investment cooperation," and said, "We hope to expand cooperation in various fields including green energy investments such as hydrogen and defense."
