EverX, a company specializing in digital rehabilitation treatment solutions for musculoskeletal disorders, announced on the 12th that it presented the clinical usefulness of digital therapeutics (DTx) in musculoskeletal disorder rehabilitation treatment using MORA-DTx, a digital therapeutic device based on 'MORA,' a digital solution specialized in rehabilitation and exercise therapy for musculoskeletal diseases, at the World Cognitive Therapy Conference and the International Patellofemoral Research Conference held this month.

At the World Cognitive Therapy Conference (WCCBT 2023), held from June 1 to 4 at the COEX Convention Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Director Choi Chi-hyun (a neuropsychiatrist) presented on the characteristics and effects of digital cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for musculoskeletal disorders during the 'Digital Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Session.' In his presentation, Director Choi explained the role of a new form of DTx that combines CBT with rehabilitation and exercise therapy in addressing unmet needs in medical practice. He also reported that the ongoing exploratory clinical trial of MORA-DTx by EverX confirmed ▲high treatment adherence ▲significant pain reduction ▲symptom improvement ▲objective muscle strength enhancement.
From June 6 to 9 (local time), CEO Yoon Chan (an orthopedic specialist) attended and presented at the International Patellofemoral Research Conference (iPFRR 23) held in Bologna, Italy. On the 8th, during Session 9 'Management/Interventions,' CEO Yoon shared the usefulness of a new multidisciplinary DTx that combines CBT considering psychological factors and rehabilitation exercise therapy based on MORA-DTx for patellofemoral pain.
CEO Yoon said, “It was very meaningful to introduce MORA and MORA-DTx as new solutions that can meet unmet needs in musculoskeletal disorder rehabilitation treatment at globally prestigious conferences. We discussed and reached consensus with many experts worldwide on the necessity of multidisciplinary DTx combining cognitive behavioral therapy and rehabilitation exercise therapy, and we expect this to influence future treatment guidelines for musculoskeletal disorders, especially patellofemoral pain.”
Rehabilitation and exercise therapy are the most highly recommended treatments for musculoskeletal disorders. However, in actual clinical settings, patient accessibility is low due to economic and physical limitations. Even when treated, psychological therapy for chronic pain and the nature of treatment requiring long-term continuous participation mean that cognitive behavioral elements that encourage patients to engage in long-term treatment greatly affect treatment outcomes.
EverX’s MORA is the first domestically developed digital solution specialized in rehabilitation and exercise therapy for musculoskeletal disorders, created to meet these unmet needs. It is currently being piloted in domestic hospitals and clinics, showing high adherence rates. Based on MORA, MORA-DTx received approval for the first exploratory clinical trial in the musculoskeletal disorder field in Korea and is currently conducting exploratory clinical trials for patellofemoral pain syndrome at Bundang Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul Metropolitan Boramae Medical Center. Last month, an additional exploratory trial for chronic low back pain was approved, and clinical trials are set to begin at Seoul National University Hospital and Hanyang University Guri Hospital.
