Shinhyeop Sponsors 650 Million Won for National Intangible Cultural Heritage Preservation

On the 12th, the Cultural Heritage Administration announced that the Shinhyup Social Contribution Foundation's sponsorship funds will be invested to establish a stable transmission base for vulnerable heritage categories. The support targets include seventeen functional categories such as instrument makers, sculptors, joiners, and bow makers, as well as five performing arts categories such as Paltal, Gagok, and Gasa. The sponsorship funds will be used for the repair, maintenance, and expansion of workshops and educational centers, as well as the purchase of tools, equipment, and materials. The Cultural Heritage Trust will manage the operations. A Cultural Heritage Administration official stated, "We plan to expand individual support projects at the regional level through this collaboration."

Since November 2020, Shinhyup has been working with the Cultural Heritage Administration to establish a foundation for cultural heritage transmission. The following year, they delivered 6,700 traditional Jeonju hanji paper window sheets worth 100 million KRW to palaces and royal tombs. They also supported seventy intangible cultural heritage transmission education centers nationwide with unmanned thermometers and other COVID-19 prevention systems worth 150 million KRW. In September last year, they provided interior renovations, soundproofing expansions, and audio equipment replacements to national intangible heritage workshops such as hanji makers (Goesan), Hansan Mosi weavers (Seocheon), Seonja makers (Jeonju), joiners (Wanju), lacquerware makers (Pocheon), and the Gangneung Danoje Festival (Gangneung). A Cultural Heritage Administration official explained, "The support funds for last year and this year alone amount to 770 million KRW, marking the largest sponsorship scale by a corporation in the field of national intangible cultural heritage."

On the 12th at 2 p.m., the Cultural Heritage Administration and Shinhyup will sign a sponsorship agreement at the main auditorium of the Shinhyup Central Training Center in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. Approximately 150 people, including national intangible cultural heritage bearers, Shinhyup Central Association and regional council presidents, local governments, and the Cultural Heritage Trust, are expected to participate.
