SK Hynix's Social Value Creation Amount Reached 7.5845 Trillion KRW Last Year

SK Group Achieves Social Value Creation Including Partners for the First Time

SK Hynix announced on the 12th that it created social value (SV) worth 7.5845 trillion KRW last year. The SV created last year decreased by 20% compared to the 2021 creation amount (9.4173 trillion KRW). By sector, 'economic indirect contribution performance' was calculated at 7.7853 trillion KRW, 'environmental performance' at -1.0423 trillion KRW, and 'social performance' at 841.5 billion KRW.

The economic indirect contribution performance decreased by 20% compared to the previous year. The decline in semiconductor market conditions starting last year led to reduced earnings and consequently lower tax payments, which affected this result. SK Hynix accounted for 37% of the total economic indirect contribution performance of the entire SK Group (approximately 20.8 trillion KRW).

Social performance increased by 29% compared to the previous year, recognized for improving the quality of life of members and increasing support for partner companies. Since last year, SK Hynix has introduced Happy Friday and expanded parental leave to establish a family-friendly corporate culture. It selects 'technology innovation companies' among partners annually for support and has increased technological cooperation to localize materials, parts, and equipment.

Environmental performance showed a 9% increase in negative impact compared to the previous year. SK Hynix stated, "Last year, semiconductor production increased as we recorded the highest annual sales ever, leading to increased resource consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. However, we reduced the expansion of negative impacts through efforts such as developing energy-efficient products and investing in greenhouse gas reduction facilities and renewable energy transition."

SK Hynix measured SV this time including partner companies such as Daeduck Electronics, Dongwoo Fine-Chem, and Mico Ceramics for the first time among SK Group member companies. It judged that creating SV across the semiconductor ecosystem and enhancing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management capabilities are essential to respond to various ESG strengthening demands from domestic and international stakeholders.

SK Hynix stated, "As a result of consulting 13 partner companies in industries such as materials, equipment, logistics, and environmental services and calculating performance amounts, a total of 1.4698 trillion KRW of SV was created last year. This evaluation is meaningful in that partner companies have established systems to manage SV and ESG data independently and have acquired the capabilities to manage them."
