10 Points Awarded per PET Bottle and Cash Conversion from 2000 Points... Can Be Used as an App-Tech Method

Dongdaemun-gu Mayor Lee Pil-hyung is using an unmanned transparent PET bottle collection machine.

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) has installed unmanned transparent PET bottle collection machines at four locations within the district to increase the collection rate of high-quality recyclable transparent PET bottles, and began operation on the 7th.

The newly installed unmanned transparent PET bottle collection machine, "Powercrush," is an upgraded device from the simple compression type to a crusher type. "Powercrush" crushes plastic PET bottles into recyclable "plastic flakes," which, after a washing process, are used as high-quality raw materials to make bags and clothing.

Considering accessibility, the district installed one transparent PET bottle unmanned collection machine each outside the district office, at Dongdaemun Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Imun Sports and Culture Center, and Dongdaemun Citizens Sports Center.

The transparent PET bottle unmanned collection machines can be used after installing the "Powercrush App," and 10 points are awarded per PET bottle. Points can be cashed out starting from 2000 points, making it a potentially popular "app-tech" method recently gaining attention.

On the afternoon of the 9th, Dongdaemun District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung personally used the unmanned transparent PET bottle collection machine and said, "Transparent PET bottles are a resource that can be recycled into high-quality materials due to their low impurity content, so separate disposal is essential. We ask for active participation so that resource recycling through transparent PET bottle collection can become a part of our daily lives." He added, "We will continue to explore various ways for everyone to enjoy participating in the virtuous cycle of recycling and create a carbon-neutral future city."
