On the 11th, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, visited the ‘2023 Seoul Mapo Tojeong World Festival’ held around Peace Plaza in Peace Park, Mapo-gu, and spent time communicating with residents while exploring the festival site.


Hosted by the Tojeong Memorial Project Association, the event was held to honor the noble spirit of Teacher Lee Ji-ham, who lived by the Mapo Riverside during his lifetime, understood the people, and took the lead in caring for their livelihood, as well as to reexamine the three major Bugo theories he advocated during his lifetime.


The festival featured unique experience programs exclusive to the Tojeong World Festival, including an exhibition booth about Teacher Lee Ji-ham, an experience zone where visitors could try the Tojeong Bigyeol (Tojeong’s Secret), and a traditional culture experience space, capturing the attention of visitors.


Additionally, busking performances, a resident singing contest, a Challenge Golden Bell quiz, and congratulatory performances by famous singers were held together, creating a bustling scene with many family visitors enjoying the weekend.


Spending a joyful time communicating with residents, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, “Teacher Lee Ji-ham made efforts for the prosperity and happiness of the people through the Moral Bugo Theory, Talent Bugo Theory, and Baekyong (Industry) Bugo Theory,” adding, “Mapo-gu will also inherit Teacher Lee Ji-ham’s spirit and take the lead in building a diverse and detailed welfare network for ordinary citizens and the vulnerable, creating a Mapo where everyone?from young children to people with disabilities and the elderly?can enjoy a happy daily life.”
