On the 9th, Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk, in collaboration with Yeongyang-gun Public Health Center and Daegu Nune Eye Clinic, conducted free eye examinations for 110 people ranging from infants to the elderly (prioritizing patients with diabetes and hypertension) in the multipurpose room of the public health center.
Yeongyang County Health Center and Daegu Nune Eye Clinic conducted free eye examinations for 110 people, ranging from infants to the elderly (prioritizing patients with diabetes and hypertension).
This ophthalmologic examination was carried out by a screening team from Daegu Nune Eye Clinic, including two ophthalmology specialists (one pediatric specialist and one retinal specialist), to protect the eye health and prevent complications for residents in medically underserved areas without specialized ophthalmology institutions. The examinations included medical interviews, visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure tests, fundus examinations, refraction tests, and slit-lamp microscopy.
Additionally, eye drops were provided according to the doctor's prescription, and counseling and consultations were conducted to detect early-stage glaucoma, cataracts, and other conditions that can cause blindness, ensuring appropriate treatment could be received.
County Governor Oh Do-chang stated, “The free ophthalmologic service received a very positive response from the residents of Yeongyang-gun, a remote village without ophthalmology specialists. We will continue to make efforts so that residents can consistently receive specialized medical care in the future.”
