Aircraft Cargo Compartment Door Defect Repair Expected to Take 16 Hours
A Korean Air passenger plane scheduled to depart from Paris, France, and arrive in Incheon was delayed due to an aircraft defect. As a result, 354 passengers were stranded for about 16 hours.
Korean Air announced on the 9th (local time) that flight KE902 (B747-8i), which was supposed to depart from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 9 p.m. and arrive at Incheon International Airport at 3:45 p.m. the same day, was delayed due to a defect. It was explained that during the takeoff preparation, a defect was detected while closing the aircraft cargo door, and maintenance is currently underway.
The 354 passengers, who had been waiting on board for about four hours, returned to the airport terminal after the departure was delayed. Korean Air expects the takeoff to be delayed by about 16 hours and plans to inform passengers and provide hotel accommodations. However, since it is early morning locally, securing accommodations has been difficult, and passengers are reportedly waiting in the terminal.
