Geumcheon-gu Holds Campaign for Local Residents at Geumnarae Sports and Culture Center on June 9th to Commemorate the 78th Oral Health Day

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) conducted a campaign targeting local residents at the Geumnarae Sports and Culture Center on June 9th to mark the 78th Oral Health Day.

‘Oral Health Day’ was designated as June 9th by numerically representing the number 6 for the age when the first permanent tooth appears and the Chinese character for molar tooth (臼齒), where the character for molar (臼) corresponds to the number 9.

The slogan for the Oral Health Day campaign is “A Healthy Smile Regained, Oral Care Together.” It conveys the importance of regular oral examinations throughout one’s life cycle to maintain lifelong oral health.

In the lobby on the first floor of the Geumnarae Sports and Culture Center, leaflets explaining oral care methods such as prevention of dental caries and periodontal disease were distributed to residents. Interactive events were held, including an oral health true-or-false quiz, screening of proper tooth brushing videos, and tooth-themed nail art.

On June 23rd, a visit to the Geumcheon Senior Welfare Center is planned to distribute oral hygiene products, fluoride mouthwash, and promotional leaflets to the elderly to promote proper oral care.

Additionally, from June 9th to 23rd, designated as Oral Health Commemoration Week, residents visiting the oral health room on the 4th floor of the Geumcheon-gu Public Health Center will receive promotional leaflets along with xylitol candies and gum.

Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “Through the Oral Health Day campaign, I hope residents learn proper oral care methods they can practice in daily life,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to encourage residents to take greater interest in oral health.”
