Bodyfriend, Ranked No.1 Massage Chair in 2023 National Brand Competitiveness Index

Massage Chair Sector Newly Established This Year
100 Billion KRW R&D Investment Over the Past 5 Years
Recognized for Differentiated Technological Excellence

Bodyfriend announced on the 9th that it ranked first in the massage chair category in the ‘2023 National Brand Competitiveness Index (NBCI)’ recently surveyed by the Korea Productivity Center. Marking its 20th year, the NBCI is a representative domestic brand competitiveness measurement index. More than 34,000 consumers participate annually in brand evaluations to select the top company among 243 brands across 70 industries each year. Bodyfriend won first place in the newly established ‘massage chair’ category this year.

Bodyfriend has been recognized for consistently releasing massage chairs with differentiated technology developed through research and development, earning consumer trust. In fact, Bodyfriend invested 100 billion KRW in research and development over the past five years, including 24.9 billion KRW last year, which accounted for 4.8% of its sales.


These R&D efforts have yielded results. It was selected as an ‘Excellent Corporate Research Institute for the First Half of 2022’ by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Industrial Technology Association, and won the ‘Red Dot Design Award’ for its self-produced sound technology. The main product, ‘Phantom Robo,’ received the Best Innovation Award at the Ergonomic Design Award (EDA). It was selected for two consecutive years as a ‘World-Class Product and Production Company’ officially certified by KOTRA, and recently obtained the international standard certification ‘ISO 13485:2016 & EN ISO 13485:2016 (ISO 13485)’ for medical device quality management systems from the global testing and certification body BSI.
