Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education Supports Dental Treatment Costs for 4th Grade Elementary Students

The Jeonbuk Provincial Office of Education (Superintendent Seo Geoseok) announced on the 9th that it will actively promote the oral treatment support project in celebration of 'Oral Health Day.'

According to the results of the online survey on youth health behavior announced last year by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the prevalence of dental caries among students in the province was 12.48%.

This project will be conducted for the first time nationwide, targeting 14,400 fourth-grade elementary school students in the province from July to November. The Office of Education will support individualized customized treatment costs within 40,000 KRW per person for the prevention of oral diseases. The items include ▲fluoride application ▲dental plaque examination ▲fissure sealing ▲tartar removal ▲early treatment of dental caries ▲oral health education, etc.

Parents or guardians who wish to receive treatment can use the system (app) to search for contracted and designated dental clinics and hospitals in the province, make a phone reservation, and then visit. The customized oral treatment results can be easily checked through the system (app), which is expected to increase satisfaction with oral treatment.

Earlier, the Office of Education signed a business agreement with the Jeonbuk Dental Association in January to promote lifelong oral health for students in the province and has held several business meetings. Additionally, schools are conducting tooth brushing practice after lunch and oral health education. Currently, health promotion-focused schools in the field of oral health education are also being operated.
