Yangcheon-gu (District Mayor Lee Gijae) announced that it will begin recruiting recipients for the “Single-Person Household Safety Equipment Support Project” aimed at creating a safe residential environment for single-person households vulnerable to crime starting June 12.
Last year, the district received great responses by providing safety equipment to 115 households including women single-person households, single-person stores, and crime victims in the area.
This year, the district will support 47 rented single-person households in the area with the “Safe Home 4-Piece Set.”
The “Safe Home Set” consists of ▲ a “Smart Doorbell” that allows real-time monitoring of the front door situation via mobile phone ▲ a “Home CCTV” that enables checking the house even when away ▲ a “Window Lock Device” that adjusts windows so they cannot be opened beyond a certain width ▲ and a “Personal Safety Alarm” that sounds an emergency bell and sends an urgent message to designated contacts in case of emergency.
The recipients of the “Safe Home Set” are residents who live in housing with a monthly rent deposit of 250 million KRW or less, are single household heads, and are district residents; apartment residents are excluded. Based on last year’s Yangcheon Police Station crime prevention management area selection data, women single-person households living in Sinjeong 4-dong, Mok 3-dong, and Sinwol 3-dong will be prioritized for support.
Additionally, single-parent mother households, sister households, and children aging out of care have also been added to the support targets.
For women-owned single-person stores, a “Voice Recognition Wireless Emergency Bell” linked with the U-Yangcheon Integrated Control Center will be provided to enable police emergency dispatch. Eligible applicants are small stores operated by a single woman as per their business registration certificate, such as nail shops and beauty salons, with support for a total of 7 stores. In an emergency, pressing the wireless button or shouting toward the device to request help will send a report to the U-Yangcheon Integrated Control Center, which will dispatch the police urgently.
An “Emergency Support 5-Piece Set” has also been prepared to protect victims of serious social crimes such as stalking and dating violence. The “Emergency Support Set” consists of ▲ Smart Doorbell ▲ Home CCTV ▲ Voice Recognition Wireless Emergency Bell ▲ Door Opening Sensor ▲ and Police Whistle to prevent the main characteristic of stalking crimes, home intrusion.
The support scale is 11 households, and recipients will be selected through coordination and recommendation with Yangcheon Police Station and registration of crime victim safety measures.
Residents wishing to apply can download the required documents from the Mokdong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center website starting June 12, fill them out, and submit them via email, fax, or visit in person to the Mokdong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center.
Applicants will undergo a selection review, and the final results will be individually notified.
Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “Starting with this safety equipment support project, we will do our utmost to make Yangcheon-gu a city where all residents’ daily lives are safe from crime.”
