Dongjak-gu Completes Flood Recovery of Dorimcheon Embankment

Increased Safety with Reinforced Flood Prevention Walls... Enhanced Convenience for Residents with Reconstructed Walkways -

Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) completed the flood damage restoration work on the Dorimcheon embankment (109, Sindaebang 1-gil) last month in preparation for the heavy rains during the summer season, ensuring thorough flood prevention.

This is the result of promptly conducting damage surveys and restoration projects immediately after the Dorimcheon embankment was washed away by the heavy rains in August last year, leading to swift restoration work.

First, the district carried out temporary restoration work on the washed-out sections of the river embankment using sandbags and plain concrete, followed by an emergency safety inspection of the embankment and retaining walls along the Dorimcheon section.

Additionally, after conducting detailed design for the restoration of a 1000㎡ embankment section at the construction site, the flood prevention walls and revetment blocks were reinforced to enhance structural safety. The project also included reconstructing the walkway and planting trees to improve convenience for residents.

Furthermore, inspections will be intensified during the rainy season to eliminate potential safety hazards and enhance overall safety.

Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, emphasized, “With forecasts predicting heavy rainfall this summer, we are strengthening inspections focusing on flood-prone areas. We are committed to thorough safety measures to prevent loss of life and property damage for our residents.”
