KT&G Joins Support for Hosting the '2030 Busan World Expo'

KT&G announced on the 9th that it has installed sculptures of Busan's representative character 'Bugie' at five SangSang Madang locations nationwide, SangSang Planet, and 115 sales offices to support the bid for the '2030 Busan World Expo.'

Bugie is an abbreviation of 'Busan Galmaegi' (Busan Seagull). Busan Metropolitan City is using the Bugie character, personified as a seagull, in its efforts to attract the World Expo. KT&G installed a large Bugie sculpture, 4.5 meters tall, at SangSang Madang Busan. To enable support for the bid outside Busan, Bugie sculptures were also placed at sales offices nationwide.

Previously, KT&G installed Bugie sculptures at SangSang Madang locations in Hongdae, Chuncheon, Nonsan, Daechi, and Busan?complex cultural and arts spaces popular among young generations?as well as at SangSang Planet, a youth startup support space in Seongsu-dong, Seoul. They are also screening promotional videos for the Busan World Expo bid. Not only domestically but also at overseas subsidiaries and Korean language schools operating in Indonesia and Kazakhstan, promotional videos for the Busan World Expo are being screened, and support for the bid will be strengthened through the installation of banners and signboards.

A KT&G official stated, "We expect various positive national-level effects such as revitalizing the domestic economy and enhancing the country's image through hosting the World Expo." He added, "We will continue to carry out company-wide support activities for the Busan World Expo bid, focusing on SangSang Madang locations popular among young people, nationwide sales offices, and overseas subsidiaries."
