Court Rejects Arrest Warrant for Accomplice in Jeonse Fraud by 'Villa God'

"Escape and Evidence Destruction Concerns Are Difficult to See"

An arrest warrant for an accomplice of a group of jeonse fraudsters, known as the so-called 'God of Villas' who own about 3,400 officetels and villas, was dismissed by the court on the 8th.

Nam Seong-woo, chief judge of the Ansan branch of Suwon District Court, conducted a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant review) for Kim (51), who is accused of fraud, in the afternoon and then dismissed the warrant.

Chief Judge Nam stated the reason for dismissal, saying, "It is difficult to consider there is a risk of flight or evidence tampering."

Kim is accused of embezzling about 28 billion won in jeonse deposits from approximately 170 victims by purchasing about 1,000 officetels and villas in the outskirts of the metropolitan area through a 'zero-capital gap investment' method from January 2021 to May last year.

Kim is an accomplice of the 'God of Villas' group of three, who were previously indicted in custody and sentenced to 5 to 8 years in prison in the first trial on April 1. The three, who were sentenced to prison terms earlier, are known to own approximately 1,200, 900, and 300 houses respectively.
