The Korea Fisheries Entrepreneurs National Convention is a biennial event held to exchange advanced information for the development of fisheries entrepreneurs, present future visions for the fisheries industry, and raise awareness of the importance of fisheries.
The Yeosu City Federation of Korea Fisheries Entrepreneurs, which hosted the 1st National Convention in 1997, expressed its intention to host the event again to Yeosu City in March. The city actively supported the bid through budget support agreements and was recently selected as the host city after evaluations by the Central Federation on event planning and operational capabilities.
The event is expected to contribute to promoting Yeosu’s fisheries, marine, and tourism resources, as well as spreading momentum for the successful hosting of the 2026 Yeosu World Islands Expo.
To ensure a successful event, Yeosu City plans to work closely with the Korea Fisheries Entrepreneurs Central Federation Yeosu City Federation, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and Jeollanam-do Province to prepare various programs such as smart fisheries exhibitions, fish seed release, and marine environment cleanup.
Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu City, said, “Hosting the Korea Fisheries Entrepreneurs National Convention is expected to strengthen Yeosu’s position as a key city on the South Coast and serve as a catalyst for our local economy.”
