Dobong-gu Holds Meeting with First Cohort of Commercial District Innovation Education Trainees

Exchanging Various Opinions on Startups through On-site Dialogue with the District Mayor

Oh Eon-seok, District Mayor, Emphasizes Unwavering Support for Food Service Startups

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) held a meeting with the first cohort of trainees from the 'Dobong-gu Commercial District Innovation Education' at the Everyone's Kitchen in Seoul 50 Plus Northern Campus (Changdong Aureune) on the 1st.

This meeting was arranged for the district mayor to directly participate in the practical course of the food service specialized startup education ('Dobong-gu Commercial District Innovation Education'), a campaign pledge of the 8th elected administration, aimed at nurturing food service entrepreneurs, and to exchange various opinions on startups with the trainees.

The meeting was attended by about 15 people including Oh Eon-seok, the mayor of Dobong-gu, 9 trainees, instructors, and education representatives. The mayor personally prepared the day's guided menu, sandwiches, and shared a tasting session with the trainees.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok deeply empathized with the difficulties of starting a business from preparation to actual operation and maintenance, urging the trainees to actively utilize various support programs promoted by Dobong-gu, such as low-interest loans for small business owners, the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Fund, the Smart Innovation Support Group, and small business managers.

Mayor Oh Eon-seok added, “In the food service industry, it is essential not only to focus on taste but also to develop and commercialize one’s unique recipes.” He emphasized, “The Dobong-gu Commercial District Innovation Education, which focuses on practical recipe development, will be a very necessary program for the first cohort as well as the second and third cohorts of food service entrepreneurs.”

The trainees said, “We didn’t know there were so many support programs for startups and business activities in Dobong-gu. We definitely want to open a store in Dobong-gu. It feels reassuring that Dobong-gu provides support from the startup preparation process to operation.”

The Dobong-gu Commercial District Innovation Education, launched for the first time this year, will add theoretical education such as commercial district analysis, labor, taxation, and lease contracts along with practical courses in the second half of the year (2nd cohort). Through a business agreement with the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation, follow-up support such as special startup guarantees, policy fund support, and consulting for graduates will be actively promoted.
