Neighboring House Suffers Due to Illegal Prostitution Next Door
Strange Men Visit and Ring Doorbell, Causing Disturbance
Due to illegal prostitution taking place in a residential area in Gangnam, Seoul, a neighboring resident suffered undeserved harm.
On the 7th, MBC reported on the illegal prostitution activities rampant in a multi-family house in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, highlighting the story of Mr. A, who has been affected by the situation.
According to the report, several notices were posted on the shared entrance door on the first floor and the front door of a specific unit in the multi-family house in Nonhyeon-dong.
The notices read, "No women live here. Please do not come." "To those who keep coming looking for women at dawn, there are no women in my house, so please stop coming." "No women here, so please do not ring the bell." and similar messages.
These notices were put up by Mr. A, a neighbor living in the house, who said that strange men had been coming to his door at dawn for about a month. Mr. A stated, "I live alone, but people kept coming looking for women," adding, "They told me they came for 'conditional meetings'."
The cause was prostitution taking place next door. Ms. B, a woman living next door, attempted 'conditional meetings' through an online app, and buyers mistakenly thought Mr. A’s house was the location for prostitution, continuously ringing his doorbell.
Suspecting prostitution, the police staked out near the address and caught a man and woman leaving the scene after prostitution.
Police investigation confirmed that prostitution through a chat app was taking place next door to Mr. A’s residence.
The police plan to expand the investigation to determine whether similar prostitution operations using online apps are occurring in other nearby houses as well.
Meanwhile, according to the 'Act on the Punishment of Acts of Arranging Sexual Traffic, etc.,' under current law, buyers of prostitution face imprisonment of up to one year or a fine, detention, or penalty not exceeding 3 million won.
