Gyeonggi Province will conduct safety inspections at 10 apartment complexes in the province from the 8th to the 14th of this month, together with private experts in civil engineering, architecture, and construction safety.
The inspection targets are apartment construction sites where framework construction or rainy season vulnerable ground work is underway, located near forest land or rivers, or large-scale complexes with more than 1,000 households.
The main inspection items include ▲ management status of flood control measures and drainage facilities in preparation for heavy rainfall ▲ safety management of slopes, retaining walls, and temporary structures ▲ establishment of measures to prevent overturning of temporary fences, cranes, and other construction equipment due to typhoons ▲ appropriateness of on-site safety management plans to prevent accidents such as heatwaves.
Gyeonggi Province will take immediate action on urgent or minor issues on-site based on the inspection results. For matters requiring follow-up such as repairs and reinforcements, the relevant city or county will be notified for prompt action.
In particular, starting from this inspection, private experts participating in the city or county inspections will re-verify whether the follow-up measures submitted by the construction sites have been completed, enhancing the effectiveness of the inspections.
Park Jong-geun, head of the Apartment Housing Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We will do our best to prevent various accidents through thorough safety management, including inspection of drainage facilities, before the full rainy season arrives."
